Research Strengths in Ireland

A bibliometric study of the public research base.

Forfas and the Higher Education Authority commissioned this report as part of an assessment of research activity in Ireland. This is a mapping exercise that takes stock of Ireland’s activity in research across all disciplines so as to provide at informed catalogue of research activity.

There has been a very rapid growth in the research base for Ireland, as measured by the volume of research articles and reviews published in journals indexed on the Thomas Reuters ‘Web of Science’ global database of 10,000 of the most highly citied serials.
