Thanksgiving in Ireland

Thanksgiving is not a national holiday in Ireland. But because Ireland and the United States have such close bonds it is the most likely place in Europe you are going to find a good party happening during the 2015 Thanksgiving holiday.Thanksgiving takes place this coming Thursday, the 26th of November.

The Merry Ploughboy in Rathfarnham in South Dublin celebrate Thanksgiving in a big way. They always have a traditional dinner and a show and on Thanksgiving this takes on a very American feel. It is certainly one of the best places in Dublin to celebrate the holiday. The Merry Ploughboy is a hugely popular traditional Irish pub with Irish music every night.
Beaufield Mews – Stillorgan
The Beaufield Mews, also located in South Dublin have a long running tradition of serving a traditional Thanksgiving meal as well as complimentary egg-nog. The Beaufield Mews is a hugely popular restaurant that receives consistently excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. If you do not believe us, check for yourself.
The Irish Thanksgiving
If all else fails you can have the traditional South-Boston Irish Thanksgiving in Dublin, 12 cans of Guinness and a stack of ribs. But in all seriousness, there are large American communities in Ireland and in Dublin in particular and there will certainly be some festivities organised. A good place to look is Tripadvisor’s but there are some other websites like Reddit or specific Ex-pats sites.

The DCU International Team would like to welcome you to join them in the Student Restaurant to celebrate Thanksgiving, next Thursday, 28th of November from 8:30 am. They will have vouchers for breakfast, which they will give to you when you arrive. This would be a really nice opportunity to meet your fellow students that may also be missing home. Register your attendance for catering purposes by Tuesday 26th of November.

Whatever you chose to do we hope you enjoy Thanksgiving 2015 in Ireland.
